The Great Droid Switcheroo

So here’s what went down.  Rach and I have been talking about going and changing her plan because it was on the Family Plan and since I gave up my phone to her mom (because my work phone is my primary, really), there was no need for us to pay for a Family plan right now. On top of that, she’s been somewhat drooling over the Droid when commercials come on and we’ve teased about just getting her one when we change the contract. I’ve been doing my research on pricing, best model, etc., and decided yesterday that while she was doing a Mary Kay party at the house, I’d take an hour off work and go to the store to switch it out.

I talk it out with the lady at the store, get everything figured out and start the switch-over. About 5 minutes before we were done, Rachael calls me and says “what’s wrong with my phone?! I just got a text saying that my plan has changed and then I got another text saying this phone is inactive!” D’Oh! :) The lady at the store knew what I was doing, so she kept quiet while I talked to Rach, saying that I was just changing the plan for her like we’d talked about and that I’d get it taken care of. I was trying SO hard not to crack cuz it was funny to me! I was 5-10 minutes away from getting it done without her knowing, and she calls me! :)

I go home and tell Rach to give me her phone so that I can fix it. She’s staring at her phone to see what I’m going to do to fix it, so I ended up dialing *228 and told her “it’ll just take a minute”. She turns away for a second, I hang up the call and I put her old phone in my pocket, then get out my phone so that I can “test call to make sure her phone works now”. The Eris starts ringing in my other pocket, so I pull it out, hand it to her and say “here you go, phone’s fixed” and took off to go back to work.

I must say, that was kind of clever for me to think of at the last minute. :)
